Ambition (n): an earnest desire for some type of achievement, and the willingness to strive for its attainment.
After rolling out three mini-festivals in 2014, planting the seeds of a Professional Development Series in 2015, and forging strong creative leaders in 2016, 2017 brings artists, audiences, and producers closer together, through a series of collated and curated professional development opportunities.
- a series of Shared Studio Sessions, that invites artists to work either independently, with or alongside each other in a studio. It is a tool to bring solo practice, which many of us delight in, out of the dark corners of solitude, and bring this practice into a shared, supportive space. A relatively simple construct, yet one that is allowing us to feel connected across disciplines and forms.
- The evolution of the Creative Leadership Program, to drive, mould, guide and walk with the 2017 hillsceneLIVE festival. This program features the second round of creative leaders, after the inaugural program supported Justine Walsh, Toni Main and Alana Michaud.
2017's Program welcomes Producers Meiki Apted, Natalie Smith and Renate Crow on board, who all bring their own unique skills and styles to the festival team. Find out more about them here.
- Professional Development Workshops – Throughout the lead up to the 2017 festival, we will host a series of workshops designed to empower artists and cultural champions with the opportunity to develop new frameworks of knowledge and even new skills in community development, festival management and fostering healthy creative communities. This PD strand build upon the success of 2015 and 2016, which saw workshops being led by industry professionals.
Previous PD workshops have been facilitated by Angharad Wynne-Jones, Jade Lillie, Tiffaney Bishop, Cr Fiona McAllister, Dr Ross Farnell and Megan Rowland.
