Bushwriting Workshop: Use the power of writing and the energy of the bush to tap into internal and external worlds with Leo Lazarus (1.5hrs)
Bushwriting is not so much writing of the bush as writing in the bush; of looking at our reflections in the mirror of the bush’s great mystery. It is about getting our expression moving and letting it flow without attachment or judgement for the shape it takes. We can move our expression by tapping into the energy of the bush through our senses. We might feel there is nothing of value moving in our minds - so the words don’t flow - but when we tap into the senses of the bush all we find is movement. Even the stillest clearing has movement; the light caught in a spider’s web, ants scaling a tree, the rising and falling of your chest and the beating of your heart when all else is quiet.
Conversation 1: "Rituals and Potions: The art of care".
What are our contemporary rituals, and what can we learn from our past? How do we navigate the pitfalls of cultural appropriation while still allowing ourselves to be informed and inspired by traditional knowledge? Why are rituals, potions, and self-care so important?
With Justine Walsh, Bianca Lyla Clifford and Liam O'Grady (the Contingent), and facilitated by Meiki Apted
Conversation 2: "The Joy of Surprise"
We gasp, we laugh and we smile. How art can use pleasure and surprise to explore the unknown?
With Zan Griffiths, Paul Fleckney (the Contingent), and Lou Fourie, facilitated by Toni Main
Night time programming:
Everyone will experience these large scale events together
7:00PM The Contingent
8:30PM Purerehua
9:00PM DANCE PARTY - Join The Last Dodo for a booty shaking dance journey through time. Let's dance till we can't feel our feet
